@quagzlor even in games there is always some ancient prophechy that you are the hero, but conviently ignores the fact that said prophecy is vague af

He remind me one of the prophet in my religion. He is cold blooded and can see the future. He wreck the ship to get away from pirate, kill a child because the child in future would likely become a sinner.

2 thoughts on this series: 1) it does a pretty good job of subverting the readers expectations 2) it's becoming clearer that the people of this world are getting not just the hero they deserve, he's also the hero that they made. It's not all their fault but he wouldn't be half as messed up as he is if so many of the people he met weren't such assholes or worse.

Ah...oversimplified. If I remember the LN correctly she was evil, but not that evil. The hero party removed the opposing factions, just as mentioned and everyone hoped, that a new golden age would dawn, but... The opposin forces also contributed a lot the country's strength. Not only a huge part of the military joined her uncle, but also a big part of the economic wing and other rather important factions. After everything was said and done the country was weakend, some neighbors stopped trading, as their contacts have been (literary) cut off and other neighbors started to move in hostile ways. First came economic collaps and then war. The hero's party heard about it a few years later and have been shocked and saddened about the news. They mused about the bad state the world is in. (All being the fault of the demon king, of course.) In short the princess bit off more she could chew. The uncle on the other side, while power hungry was indeed capable. (And I believe he was her brother instead of her uncle in the LN, but I might confuse something here.)

@Qelix oh that’s actually interesting? I know novels usually have more in general but seeing this manhwa so far I have to say I didn’t expect it to be that much different? Is the novel better?

@aitak: It's been a while since I read it, but I still remember it was a blast. I couldn't stop reading it until I reached the last few translated chapters (, which translation quality became so bad, I nearly didn't get anything of it.) While most parts are the same in the LN and the manhwa, there are some differences in the details, like how the description of the deaths of the elves are more gruesome, e.g. splitted skulls instead of stabs or like the elf in the orc chiefs tent gets raped really bad, aso. Also here and there more details are given in the LN (e.g. about the princess), but I might be wrong on that one, as the princesses future mismanagement might be mentioned later/somewhere else in the story.

As there aren't many updates on the manhwa, I really do recommend reading the LN. The stories don't differ too much from each other, so it should be fine to find the right chapter in the LN and start reading from there on. (Don't ask me, which one it is. I can't remember. XD)

funny how the story with imperial princess changed :
In the novel, it was not her uncle but her brother. Moreover the one who got expelled was the princess.
She tried to get gather power to get the throne but it wasn't enough.
So she gained the favor of the hero's party by claiming that she was the legitimate successor. The party accepted because most of the time the hero's companion judge with appearance, so "how could such a beautiful princess be a evil person ?" So with them she made and succeeded her coup d'Etat.
Because the party killed to many soldier during the overthrow, the public security plummeted,
And because the empire got impoverished by the rebellion, it resulted in a massive increase in taxed for the citizens.
Most of the citizens blamed the hero for that while his party members were just happy to have put the "legitimate" heir on the throne....
