Hmm Karate kid is going to get a beating, isn't she?
(Reason I think that is because unlike her, we haven't seen the other one fight at all, and she barely got into trouble over fighting the 'normies' in an earlier chapter. )
@OraOraApril19 In fact one of the most popular and best rated series over there but aye... Let him be the contrarian. For a series he doesn't seem to like, he surely is interested enough to lurk in the comments section.
the characters are getting good development and airtime, more than most stories. in the time it takes for the mc to build some basic stamina and muscle, the context and surrounding characters i.e. a collection of moving pieces are getting fleshed out
also: the art is so good
"That girl is not a striker... she's a jiu-jutsu grappler"
THIS IS NOT A BIG REVELATION.
We've known BJJ was her speciality since basically chapter 1. This just confirms what I was complaining about, that Maria is not just the strongest but is the strongest when not even having to use her speciality or even her striking speciality since she wasn't throwing knees or elbows (thus begging the question as to why the previous chapters made such a big deal about those elbows and knees). It's just a ridiculous level of wankery.
Also I know this is a school, but are the people in the bleachers drunk? They're fighting over fucking nothing. I can't even tell if Karate girl wants to fight the shit-talker or the bubblegum girl.
@amegashi Yeah, since Eun-sol is used to take punches (we've seen how brutal her fights can get lol) Maria was forced to use her grappling game against her during the test. The flashback was to give us insight on Eun-sol's way of thinking more than anything. How she believes there's no point in fighting against such foe just to get your ego destroyed (poor Ha-min) and that reasoning being the main cause of her passing up the chance to face Maria.
@shinratensei16 Yea, that did explain her dropping against Ha-min but it doesn't really feel all that satisfying. For example, even though Ha-min went all out its pretty clear that was a Maria specific strategy. Against every other character he clearly took a different approach, and that change in approach means there's a possibility he doesn't do the Maria strategy against Eun-sol so she could still win but, well, he could go all out so I guess its fine. It just kind of feels like the author just didn't let them fight just to have him get crushed by Maria, and its a little disappointing since it would have been a fun fight but well its character development I guess. Though I'd still prefer to see development on Ji-tae's side if we're not gonna see Eun-sol fight after all that.
@Amegashi Yeah, I totally get what you mean. I also would've rather seen Eun-sol fight against Ha-min, since the gap wouldn't have been so big between them in comparison to the difference in skills between Ha-him and Maria. Although Eun-sol does imply in this chapter that if Ha-min would've used the same attack against her, she wouldn't have been able to hold up. So my assumption is that now that she's witnessed Ha-min hidden skills first hand, she will work on a way to counter it in order to be ready for him the next semester. Well, that if Ha-min doesn't decide to go to Class 3 now that he's elegible.
