i agree. Fuck Maria, she's honestly the worst sort of person. This is just horrible to read. It's like Metamorphosis, except the innocent kid self-destructs into an abuser instead of a victim, with the encouragement of another failure of a person. It's a realistic look at what happens if a shounen hero's neither as mentally tough as Baki, who's still a kind man even with a worse father and worse life, nor as lucky as Kenichi, who has a loving family and compassionate teachers to set him straight.
I sincerely hope 2hakkk plans to write in someone who can guide him better than Maria, or at the very least a revelation sharp enough to break his death-spiral. Otherwise, he might as well slap a Vader mask on him and be done with it.
It's gonna continue getting worse, his mental state, because no one around him is strong enough, mentally or physically, to pull him back from the abyss. The only people capable of something like that are just like him, if not worse. Maria is basically outright encouraging this sort of behavior. No one in his Fight Class is close enough to him to go out of their way to stop him. We don't know a lot about Fight Class 3, but the ones we have seen aren't mentally sane enough to think there's anything wrong with his behavior. Most of the teachers/higher-ups are against him, the ones that aren't against him, once again, aren't close enough to actually get through to him. His friends, perhaps with a lot of time and support, it might be possible for him to recover. But with how far gone he is and the fact that he's almost constantly surrounded by enablers and bad influences, there's almost no chance.
But like you said, it's a pretty realistic outcome for this type of protagonist. He got in through his connection to Maria and that cut off any sort of potential connection he could have had with the people in his class and the teachers right from the get-go. It also painted a giant red target on his back too, one arguably bigger than him being the son of... whatever his name is.
However... I, for one, am looking forward to seeing just how deep the rabbit hole goes... after the hiatus, of course. There's a sick sense of satisfaction seeing a once hopeful and kind young man turn into this mentally disturbed individual.
