So refreshing to see them taking action at a good early opportunity. I get so sick of status quo writing where the protagonists never get off their asses to actually decisively deal with things.

protagonists like that are popular because a large number of people have no concept of danger or understanding of survival, people in europe have been put in jail for defending themselves, people go to dangerous countries assuming everyone is peaceful and get killed. even the incredibly basic concept of killing to eat is beyond a lot of people in 1st world cities.

this is a cliche chinese fantasy story, the world is black and white, bad guys are evil, people only respect strength.

the alchemist guy started problems on their territory and tried to push them around, he is an active antagonist not just an innocent guy doing his job. killing everyone is also the opposite of short-sighted.

this isnt a halfway realistic situation, it's a cliche chinese fantasy story, the apex of black and white morality in story telling.

also people dont need justification for revenge, in fact shitty evil people are more likely to seek it which is one of the reasons why you cut lose ends.

@givemersspls Warring environments have a great deal of difference. In the story it falls under the tale of "two tigers on a mountain". If you go back to era's where feudalism existed, or further back to tribes and warring nations, these types of things weren't uncommon. It also skips a great amount of detail from the novel cause the people involved are by no means innocent. As you said "the world is not completely black and white", but some solutions are tried and true . The only reason you can say "killing isn't the answer" is because of a lot of killing, think about that for a bit.

@givemersspls key word in that "sometimes" led to.. :S *shrug* my point is you can't say "let's talk peace" to someone who has their sword in your throat. Or bullet in your head, or fist in your face, etc... the point is taking out someone who is causing you or the people you care about harm. There isn't a perfect solution, but talk-no-jutsu works neither here nor there, some differences are irreconcilable.
