I think it would be nice if we had the ability to follow an author. This would likely involve having author pages, where we could list their works. This may be handy as then we could have information on the authors added like Twitter handles, etc. Anilist/MAL have this ability but it would be nice to be notified when works are actually added to MangaDex.

Nope. If staff don't punish users for ignoring pinned treads users will never read them.

As we said in the Discord channel just because author/artist pages are planned does NOT mean that you will be able to follow them and see when new works from them are added.
