@Mar19 To be honest, their situations are also different. Dylan is from a noble family and they had a proper engagement even if MIL disagreed with it, she comes from a respectable background. Female lead was middle class or whatever and Cedric had JUST lost his wife and child and was drunk/wild/crazy. I think it would be realistic that as a mother Yvette would be concerned a gold digger would come in and exploit her grieving son especially since she knows nothing about the og female lead.
