Now that I have reread this chapter once again, it seems to take inspiration directly from Saya no Uta

I didn't find the postscript necessary, as the basic point seemed clear: what Fran & Okita see in the painting doesn't match what Urasawa describes. The additional detail was very helpful, though, as I would never otherwise have caught the game reference or understood its implications. I was expecting an ending in which the gallery owner (seen in the beginning) is delighted by Urasawa's crazy new style.
