I will explain what I think is going on:
The mom wrote that play years ago. And it fit everyone perfectly. Like, all of them.
The issue, however, is that Grace has a speech impediment - She can't talk like a commoner. Even if Kenzaburo tries speaking like a commoner, it keeps coming out like a noble. But the play had a line to address this issue in it.
That's why Kenzaburo was confused. Grace's mom knew of that this would be a predicament, and solved it years before.
But then, think... how did she know? And more importantly, what else did she know about Grace?
Jacqueline, Grace's mother, definitely knows that Grace isn't entirely Grace. And that fairy talking with her? Probably the reason why Grace is also Kenzaburo. And if Grace sees Jacqueline, the magic will get undone.
She is trying to save Grace from her fate as a villainess.

if possible could you redo, chapters 22-25, the translations from that group are pretty bad

Hmm. I suppose we could, however I'm not sure that spending our time on previous chapters would be a very effective decision...
I'd assume that most people would prefer us to carry on with the plot. (Especially considering the rather long wait between uploads for this series)

That's not to say we'll completely ignore you, but you might have to wait a while. Probably until we catch up with raws, or the official release catches up with us, lol.

Thanks for the suggestion :)

Best Regards.

This is what I was thinking too.
Remember that it's an otome game and that his daughter had already been playing it over a month prior to the start of the story.
It's probably some repeat/timeloop shenanigans in game and trying to break Grace's bad end via Dad.

I still wonder why her mom avoid her. Loving too much?

Welcome new team. Thank you for continuing the series!
since the Fairy mention "thing have been going smoothly so far" chance are, they are the reason the dad got isekai'ed here so until he did what need to be done, they can't meet yet.

Yeah, I'm confused. Let's collect some pieces:
Legend: GK: Grace/Kenzuboro; GM: Grace's Mom; GD: Grace's Dad; AM: Anna's Mom
  • GM has been away sick (supposedly) and so has not met GK.
  • GD married into GM's family & title (Duke). (He was born as a minor rural noble.)
  • Grace used to be fairly decent; her "arrogant nobility" attitude comes from her later training.
  • Caged Grace appeared in a GK dream. This was not in the game. Presumably this is the real Grace?
  • Prince/pauper swap play is based on an old fairytale.
  • GM wrote a script version of the play 30 years ago, and it was left with the theater club. (It's not clear if the play was actually performed 30 years ago.)
  • It's odd that GM wrote a play about prince become more "a man of the people" by being swapped, but then raises her daughter to strict aristocratic standards, which results in Grace's poor behavior.
  • GM also (30 years ago) came up with the idea of a "challenge" to make things harder. (Not clear if she specifically came up with "gender swap" as a/the challenge.)
  • GD ran into AM at the festival, where she bowed courteously to him. GD was shocked to see her, and she gestured to him to keep quiet. GD clearly was on close terms with AM in the past.
  • The play is noted to fit very well with the current student council (but only if they are genderswapped).
  • Play did not originally account for GK's "noble speech -- but that change was made just in time by GM. It's suggested that this was done knowing about GK's noble speech. (Though a more prosaic speculation is she didn't think Grace could/would speak like a commoner.
  • GM has some sort of deal with a fairy(?) working towards some goal.
  • GM made to sure to attend the play, but also made sure to avoid meeting GK.
  • GM was very pleased with Grace's performance and wanted to meet her.
  • In the play, the swap ends, when someone close to a swappee recognizes who they truly are.
  • GM's dialog with the fairy? at the end seems to imply that GM must not meet Grace, else something (probably a swap) will come undone. And the source of the rule is what she wrote in the play 30 years ago.
  • The fact that she's really happy that Grace did well, implies that she doesn't know that Grace is Kenzuboro.
  • So maybe GK's swap will end when... But Kenzubro's wife and daughter already know who he really is.
That's my "just the facts" post. Let me know if in error or missed anything important and I'll fix it here.

Okay, so having laid out the pieces, here's a theory.
  • GM is unhappy with the way Grace turned out.
  • Then fairy appears and offers to fix it according to the script that GM wrote thirty years ago.
  • As part of that, the fairy arranges the SC (Student Council) so that it fits the script written 30 years ago.
  • So GM thinks that Grace will be swapped with some commoner (Anna).
  • But unbeknowst to her, the fairy sticks the real Grace in some mental sleep/cage, and sticks Kenzuburo into Grace.
  • GM then has to stay away from both "Anna" and "Grace" because meeting either one would break the spell. (Of course, if she actually met then, then she would realize that neither one is her real daughter.)
  • When GM raves about how well Grace is doing, she's actually talking about Anna, who GM thinks is Grace. (GM is glad to see that "Grace" has grown out of her aristocratic arrogance.)
  • As for her suggested fix for GK's noble speech, she might have done that at the suggestion of the fairy. (Note that this tweak to the play was made just before the play, not 30 years ago.)
Theory about past
  • There's still the GM/GD/AM triangle. I.e. GD was clearly close to AM.
  • There might not be anything to that... They just happened to know each other in the past.
  • OR... Perhaps there was a swap back there as well, with GM and AM swapping.
  • They might have swapped back. (GM and AM might simply know each other from that time.)
  • OR... They stayed swapped, with GM and AM being happy in their swapped roles.
  • And maybe as part of that, GM was stuck with "noble speak/action" spell, which made her speak/act like a noble. Which might have caused her to raise Grace to strict aristocratic standards. And which might explain why she thought that "Grace" would need the script tweak, knowing that "Grace" (who she thinks is Anna) has the same noble speech/action spell on her.

No, the "noble speech" handling wasn't in the original play, but rather was added just prior to the performance by suggestion of Grace's Mom. See my recap and theory just above this post.
