I thought the goddess can't predict any events related to mc once he's involved, because he's from Japan? How is she guiding him to these interactions, or maybe it's a loophole by not telling mc exactly what's going on, so mc isn't intentionally getting involved?

Wonder if the goddess foresaw that the waterwheel would be destroyed when she told him to build it.

I get manipulating the timeline and all but whoa, dick move, gal.
my bet? if the waterwheel wasn't there, kotomin would have swum past and never seen or talked to the MC. By putting the waterwheel there it forced the second meeting.

No, I get that she's forcing events since she was so pushy about it.

But surely if she's as omniscient as she let on, there gotta be better way to give him some illusion of freewill.

When has she ever given him the illusion of freewill though? What she is trying to do is keep him alive, free will be damned. If he wanted free will, he should have turned down her help and gotten murdered by his maid.

Maybe I'm just expecting too much, but it would be kinda nice if he's getting some existential crisis down the line. You know, instead of the story being go here, do this, trust me bro.

Compared to this, Daikenja/Rafael from the Slime Tensei franchise gives the MC much more agency and only interferes when asked/absolutely urgent.

Again, the MC is choosing to listen to her. Her only goal is his survival, cause that's what the MC asked for. She tells him to do things but doesn't force him to do them. He is not under some sort of compulsion to do them. She has literally never led him astray and if you really think Rafael gives Rimiru more agency then you really haven't been paying attention to that story cause holy shit does Rafael puppet master the guy. She considers herself to be Rimiru's first wife, and rightfully so, cause she pulls all the strings to the point of issuing orders pretending to be Rimiru to his subordinates and NOT TELLING HIM til she has to.

Probably doesn't really matter, but that waterwheel couldn't lift squat.
It might drive a mechanism of some sort, but it would still be pretty inefficient.
NGL, I was wondering if anyone else noticed that the water wheel as drawn wouldn't function for its stipulated use in drawing water for agriculture.

It could depending on a lot of circumstances that don't matter. It was supposed to be for pulling water from the river, and the wheel as illiterate doesn't work for that application.

This world is full of amazingly inconsiderate people that we're supposed to see as friends. Just stealing a pot full of hot soup and ramming through a waterwheel.

I was so annoyed that there were no wedges holding the coupling gudgeon in place and was just lying loose on a flat surface, that I completely ignored it was the wrong type of waterwheel in the first place.

Well see, now that's the kind of masterful manipulation we need to have some semblance of freewill.

As opposed to here where he get constantly given arbitrary pointer and reminder that things only happen because she wills it.

That wasn't what he said out loud, but the mangaka reminding you that this was the day before the battle with Gain (the vampire).

Even though they already put that at the start of the flashback and it was also not an important detail (citation needed?).

no I meant that it isn't before that. We saw him kill that guy several chapters ago. And we also saw him go back to the vilalge in the day after he said that.
