The elf shot himself in the foot, not only did he has to go into jail, the engagement get called off too.

What did he try to achieve again ? He was engaged with the princess already, after marriage she will be his wife, why he need to try that kind of shit to impress her ?

10 years in prison? what is with these japanese stories and never making bad guys suffer any real consequences? at least in the chinese ones the bad guys end up actually paying the price of their actions...
I understand that he is a noble and the family also gets punished, but I found it weird that elves, a long-lived species, just gave 10 years one would expect a 100 or more since their sense of time is different than a human's

The negging he learned from the Tate bros wasn't working, so he decided to go with the Megamind movie Titan's version of the suspension bridge effect. Basically, put her in lethal danger, and then save her, to make her your adoring slave, bonus points if whoever he hired to kidnap her managed to get a slave collar on her before he kills them to tie up loose threads.

Edit: I'm using one out of date misogynist example and then throwing back to an older one.

I'd imagine the jail time is just a symbolic thing. The real punishment here is the fact that he is forbidden from using healing magic on his wounds. While I doubt it was the writer's intent, this punishment means he will forever carry scars on his once-perfect face because of his misdeeds, forever reminding himself, and everyone else, of what he has done.

Big doggo hardest to part from.

Speak of the devil woman...

"Some B-rank you are."
Didn't you just claim you raised him? So it's your lacking training that's at fault, then.

I wonder what that family punishment is. Quite often in these stories it's a loss of rank, if not loss of nobility. That can be very severe, in particular since it also comes with the stigma of a fallen or demoted family name. But we don't know the specifics here.
