We discussed it a lot in the group, as a translator I think about giving you as much of what was written and like they spell Charlotte like "sha" so with "Charly." I just worried someone goes "cha", which probably doesn't matter and then, if it's a nickname we searched for "shirley" in japanese and found that exact name, like I don't even.

Also had some help to look through the novel and we didn't find conclussive sentence that "Shirley" is a middlename or nickname.
