As long as they are decent, nice, productive and respectful people I think everyone should do whatever they wanna do.

Of course, without imposing their beliefs to others or coercing others to do, say and think certain things.

Kinda disappointed that this manga went with the "everything's shitty because one person is queer" angle. It definitely makes it clear that it's not Mogumo's fault, but I'm rather sick of trans misery porn at this point.

The only one worth pitying is the mom. Everyone else here is at fault in some ways.

Right? I can't even enjoy the comments section even though I really like this manga.

It has given me a nice list of new people to block to make my comments section experience better though lol And it is nice to see people correcting others on pronouns. I hope this manga can help inform some people and change some minds.

don't understand why some of the commenters still read this manga if... they don't even care for its themes. but oh well. i wonder what's going to happen with the parents...

@mirewitch

Most studies you will cite so be coming from pseudo-science, low peer reviewed, and awful research.

Our universities/colleges have not been producing the best for decades. The west has been failing and getting sick from social science and awful people from high places of power and knowledge.

We are even having to change language so we can be "inclusive" to people only to have that language be more harmful than what was previously used.

So color me a bit cautious, when I hear "new study funds" in a headline nowadays.

"Common sense" is what everyone is lacking today.

Boy am I glad Mogumo turned out physically okay. I would have freaked if they had gotten killed. I'm glad Sakura is finally understanding what Mogumo went through and that Tetsu and Satori are there for them. But I really don't think talking to their parents will solve anything, especially not with their awful dad.

@smolbaka Wait, scientific consensus is pseudo-science because you don't agree with it, even though it's been consistent for about 20 years now? Aside from that, the complaint about peer reviews is an outright lie, so I must assume you have qualms with the methodology, yes?

I'm kidding, of course. Anyone that complains about a lack of "common sense" (not vague at all, I trust) and brings up "the west" (totally unprompted as well) in this sort of discussion is intellectually bankrupt; no-one is "changing language" in the way you think they are and there's multiple utilitarian reasons for the current approach to gender. If you disagree, please do tell me (in DMs, as to raise this poor manga's comment section's average IQ to above room temperature) what proof could conceivably change your mind, because I suspect there's absolutely nothing I could show you seeing as this is a purely intuitive position which you didn't reason yourself into–but, rather, defaulted to.

@a52 We've had a lot of the manga be about Mogumo finding people that are really nice and understanding. Even many of the ones who haven't been kind have come to better understand Mogumo over time. It makes sense that we were eventually going to see some people who really haven't been kind.

That is definitely fair, I suppose. I'm just not happy about how it's framed -- how every negative thing in poor Mogu's life seems to be a result of their gender identity, or their parents' lack of support. And like, yeah, a lot of trans people do have pretty shitty lives but like... usually not just because they're trans yknow?

I guess I'll have to wait until next chapter to see if it gets reframed in a way that puts more of the blame on Mogu's family -- this is their own, obviously colored, recounting after all

But sometimes that’s what it’s made out to be.
Their father is garbage and their mother was clearly unstable to begin with.
Their family just put all the blame for their own issues on them.

PS. I suck at constructing sentences that use they/them in both personal and plural ways. Frustrating as this is my first language of a few.

@namian same reason TERFs who chased me off Twitter with death threats read all my tweets. They need something to be angry about and deride so as to feel superior.
