Obviously the only answer is “No.” This request is disrespectful to your GF and to you. She’s literally saying she wants a chance to break up your relationship and wants YOU to give her permission to do so. Why would anyone with any sense say “OK” to that?

Mind you, she also knows her GF is standing right there--the random girl doesn't know but our MC does. Why would you do this in front of her? If she says anything but "No," I might side eye the next few chapters with the potential to be on my way, if it gets really silly.

Like what? I get its fiction but in my opinion a response like that, solely for the sake of adding unnecessary drama for Moko, makes me annoyed at the author

When stuff like this happens as soon as the relationship starts it really makes me worry about the writers ability to carry a series further in an interesting way. Falling back on these narrative crutches so quickly hasn't ever been a good omen in my reading history. I'm hoping this is just a stinger that's resolved very fast next chapter and that we have unique plot elements coming up.

It’s not news that Kaede is shy so I can understand why she’s very self-conscious about the PDA.

BTW I skimmed the first chapter again and was reminded that Kaede is well-known for rejecting anyone who asks her out, to the point her peers were wondering if she just wasn’t interested in romance. To play devil’s advocate, perhaps that girl went into the confession knowing she would be rejected like everyone else, but was determined to push forward anyway. The fact that Kaede isn’t single anymore would be news to most people so it might not have fully registered with her.

Also, another interesting thing, that book she borrowed is the same one Kaede was reading in Chapter 1. It was what made Momoko suspect that Kaede really was interested in romance and what initially drew Momoko to her, so in a way it‘s the book that brought them together.

I have to admire the girls resolve to forge ahead, even if the path is leading her off a very obvious cliff…also i still think kaede’s best friend is going to be an obstacle at some point. Her reaction on page 7 was highly unusual when kaede said things were going well. She seemed…..off.

I almost wanna see this take a swerve into Moko going full Yandere, just to shake up her "doll-like" reputation, and put some much-needed pressure on Minato to commit to this relationship she seemingly so desperately wanted and yet is having trouble verbally/actionably committing to.

If it's gonna go the melodramatic "strained relationship" route with immediate discord due to interfering third parties, have one character get real possessive and not afraid to mark her territory. Moko being the one to do that also adds new fun (to me, comparatively) texture to her character's depth.

I like the art a lot and both Kaede and Moko are interesting enough to hold my attention for awhile yet, but I really had hoped this series would break convention more than this.
