Good chapter. Many fantasy novels that are set in medieval times always forget that at that time, it was hard to get all daily basics and medicine. Forget about daily basics, even the road is not been maintained much other than the main road. Other than road and food, education and communication also not much.

Thanks for the new chapter!

Last time, when things were going well, Ash had to protect his village from a bear.
Looks like this time, he will have to protect the county capital from bigger things, like let's say maybe merchant groups? or maybe the Roiche/Royce clan mentioned in the chapter?

They monopolized soap? What the hell man...
It's kind of common in medieval cultures that soap would be more a luxury rather then a daily necessity. Bathing may or may not be common, but any public baths would most likely be in the more affluent parts of the city and only nobles would have private baths in or near their homes.

As long as the nobles and merchants don't sell soap without perfume, they should be OK. They can argue that being clean improves general health and productivity. It also makes it less offensive when the nobles must interact with the general masses. Smelling good while clean is the right and privilege of the affluent, nobility, and monarchy.

Technically all manure is potentially dangerous.
Chicken manure can contain salmonella and e. coli bacteria, that can persist after improper composting (that require 65-70C of temperature for a long time to be done properly and safely). There is also a contamination risk during the preparation of the compost, also for parasites.

The issue is 'exclusivity' in itself boosts demand and 'value'. The reason the royals and nobles are keeping 'soap' to themselves is not only so they themselves can stay clean (they also probably do not know how to achieve the economies of scale to bring prices down) but having a certain product exclusive to them only can also bring the prices up and them (merchants and associated nobles) raking in the profits.
Even in our history, the nobilities and mercantile groups of different countries 'hoarded' a lot of products that could have helped common people just because they needed to line up their pockets and to also preserve the status quo.
The reason I thought Ash might get in trouble with nobles and merchants because if he is able to make soap (and most likely he might be able to make it more efficiently), the soap market will crash and in their timeline, competition is not welcomed, and so they will surely do some dirty tactics to bring even Ash's ventures down (not only soap making). Though I am pretty sure Ash will also take them down in response like what he did to the bear when it endangered the flow of progress.
