Why the fuck is he helping them? They literally said it themselves there's no need for a newspaper Club anymore when they already have a club that's in charge of a official School YouTube channel that posts updates.
Aside from what others have mentioned already, MC was also requested by one of the teachers to keep the club from disbanding to preserve the school order.

Dude she's your family. I get that it's a secret, but I think you can make an exception.

In the previous chapters it's explained properly, give them a read. The members like(more like obsessed with) newspapers.
Even if the club ceases to exist , they will make a society(in animu-school logic, an underground group of sorts) .
If they are exposed , they might use the information about the three of them dating.
That's why MC doesn't want them to do anything crazy. Thus , he thought it will be best to help them in order to keep his relationship with twins a secret.

Also I'm kinda sure in the next chapter if the twins visit MC's house , his aunt will absolutely interrogate them. May be Hikari can control herself , but I'm sure Chikage will slip up. Honestly , it will be kinda funny to see  .

And as always thankies for the chapter.

Mitsumi-san seriously has insanely sharp woman intuition, it’s kinda scary. even though Sakuto tried to hide that they’re dating, she probably already figured it out way earlier :haa: That’s why Mitsumi asked Sakuto to invite Hikari and Chikage to meet up her

thank you for translating
She seems to have very good intuition about these kind of things

It's for plot reasons and to waste time I guess rather than focusing on developing the relationship of the two sisters a lot of manga do this kind of thing often with losing heroines or drama. What gets me is with the scandals and fake news any normal committee would remove this club already

Why he helped the newspaper club you might ask? Because their president just simply that insane and hungry for scoops (you can said "journalist spirit" in nicest way). And it not just annoy three of them (MC and his twin girlfriends), but also increased the chances of them being caught.

Even the club disbanded, i believe the president will soon enough catch the scoop she wanted (MC being caught on double dating) and spread it anyways, purely by just seeing her skill and determination for journalistic. It still my speculative though
Some pretty good speculation but for me I'd rather focus on the vanilla dating fun and competition between the two girls to get closer to him

Like others have said, it's for pragmatic reasons. You know the saying "keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer"? It's something like that. Even if the newspaper club gets disbanded, they'll just make a "society" (essentially a hobby group that's a pseudo-club, but is given minimal support by the school) and keep chasing scoops. Both out of their sincere- if disturbing- passion for newspaper, but also out of desperation to become a proper club again.

And in that ravenous hunt for school scoops, they will inevitably go for gossip and scandal. Meaning sooner or later they'll sniff out something going on between the MC and the twins, and eventually their throuple relationship will get outed and their social lives ruined by the scandal and controversy. So while it would be easier and entirely justified to do nothing, their options are "Let the club get disbanded, then spend the rest of our school years watching our backs for paparazzi and gossip-mongers."

OR

"Help the club remain active by making them a legitimate and informative school newspaper again, so they no longer have the need nor desire to hunt for scandals."

Bonus: they will owe the MC and the twins big time for helping save the club, and it's entirely possible the one sister actually starts enjoying the club and sticks around as a proper member. They wouldn't dare turn on their savior or throw one of their club members under the bus after all of the help, after all.

So like I said: keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer.

I could do without them being "competitive" about it. Them supporting each other is what can set this story apart from dozens of other similar romance stories where people are in competition.

I don't mean in the way of like getting into fights or arguments and causing drama but how hearing about one of their dates and the progress they make and maybe encouraged other one who might be a bit reluctant to move forward in the relationship to push forward a bit at least as much as she is comfortable with.

Honestly though I don't really care about any other characters besides the main three though so this arc is a bit of a snoozefest, I like romance not drama mess

I don't mind there being other stuff going on in the story, but this particular stuff just isn't interesting.

It's a little similar to Citrus+ where the plot is all about some sort of school administration shenanigans and I just cannot imagine who finds that to be gripping. Take that in contrast to say Asteroid in Love, where there's stuff going on besides the romance but it's actually interesting. Like I'd read a story about kids trying to discover an asteroid even if there's no romance. I wouldn't read a story about...whatever's going on here with auditing clubs, if that was the core premise.

(Meanwhile there's Inkya Gyaru, which is part romance and part looking into what different clubs are doing, but the clubs are all ridiculous so it is entertaining.)

Yeah I remember citrus, not enough focus on main couple and what's going on with them. It's the thing of putting in too many side quests in between. I read a manga with a bit of romance for example and really it's just going from one depression part turn to another. Can't remember the name another thrash for wasting your time is rental girlfriend
