@Kutabarie my guess is cuz they thought the sister was the miko so they doted and cared for her, but thought of Lerunda as worthless (cuz at least with the miko they could get rewards and whatnot from the kingdom). I kinda see it less as hate and more of "idgaf to a child that I can't benefit from" (which is not better in any way)

What a crapsack family she had. She didn't even do anything wrong, without any other reason her parents are looking more and more like utter morons for mistreating her just because her fraternal twin sister had better styled hair and was more sociable than she is.

Our cinnamon roll gets her first birthday party, and with the entire village celebrating it, it almost feels like it can make up for all the years she's never celebrated one. Here's to many more peaceful birthdays to come in that nice village.

It's nice that Nirushi the refugee catman is just tsundere and isn't above celebrating an innocent child's birthday. So he's not truly bigoted after all.
