C'mon, Sherlock lol. Did you skim the last couple of chapters? Everything was addressed here. They loved each other but realized they were too cowardly to make a move. Jirou has moved on without really realizing it. This is the moment that he has truly moved on to Akari. They both still love each other platonically and know this hurts. This was actually a beautiful chapter (until a big ol hot Akari ass is plastered in front of us) and I am glad Jirou can move on.

I'm team Akari, nothing against Shiori, I like her. It had become obvious that she was not going to be chosen. But really this is way better that I expected.
They digged into their past, their emotions throughout the process and the conclusions with regrets for what could have been. I think it was very well done and it was a good closing. Now Jirou is fully aware of the consequences of hesitate, better not make the same mistakes with Akari
