I don't know why I love these kind hearted old timey growing up in the countryside manga - so nostalgic, even though I grew up in Alaska, nothing like Japanese culture! Though maybe the feeling of being in the boonies is the same.

Thanks for these chapters, I always go 'oh boy!' when one shows up!

The Japanese writing paper is really interesting. I don't really understand how their written language works, but I assume each square has a single word in it. When reading a manga with a novelist, I've seen them use the same paper for manuscripts. Is the grid designed to give greater clarity that cannot be had from freehand writing on blank paper?

Each square is used to be filled in with a kanjii, that means a word, or a syllabe made of hiragana and katakana, and it is used like that so it doesnt becoem mungled, also it is read right to left and up to down.
