I think it's because it supposedly sets a hard limit on how much money they spend, only that this only works as far as they don't keep buying tokens.

It's possible that it means you can't top up and whatnot, so you buy once, and keep playing until you lose all your money or smt.
Haven't been a japanese arcade or seen this type of machine to know if it's real

That's how gambling works as well, it's the paying and having a nothing or something scenario , one they lose in-game money ,you just buy more tokens . It's just gambling but for kids , as long as real money is used it's still gambling

while true it is similar in that you can gamble without topping up and just restart when you lose it all, not really giving anything of significant value to really win at the end prob affects how it'll feel for most people. (also wonder if there's any "thanks for playing thibgs and whatnot, consolation prizes", since irl gambling's only condolation is access to the casino buffet if it even has one)

ofc any and all things that involve money and chance are worse for people who have gambling and related problems, so not like the machine is faultless.
