I swear some people will accept the most ridiculous storytelling.
This is a war, yet nobody important on the protagonists' side has died. The Dragon Lords are alive, the Beast men are alive, the Elves are alive, and even the human prince and other major allies are alive.
From the beginning of the story till now, there have been virtually no meaningful losses for the main cast. How am I supposed to feel any tension or emotional impact when it feels completely predetermined that the good guys will win?
If the good guys are guaranteed to succeed while the villains are guaranteed to fail, then what's the point of presenting this as a serious war? At that point, it starts feeling like the kind of story where the outcome is never in doubt and the protagonists are protected from any real consequences.
I'm not saying the story needs to be dark or that everyone has to die. A story can absolutely have a happy ending while still making sacrifices feel real. But when there's a massive war and the heroes come through it without losing anyone significant, it makes the conflict feel hollow.
This war feels less like a desperate struggle and more like a complete steamroll. Without meaningful losses or setbacks, it's hard to take the stakes seriously.
