Damn. That was a really well done fight scene thrown into the background. It helps that it was on a garden path so everything felt grounded in an actual flow despite it being fed to us as crumbs. I hope the plot makes more excuses to go an action route, especially with Frost out of armor

Violet is utterly unreliable, and her choking the supplies of a town would cost a few lives here and there so she's a hypocrite to some degree. Perhaps she wants revenge but people clearly don't matter to her, and that kind of merchant or noble may as well be disposable to a decent lord. At this point I can't bring myself to care about her character and I hope "The Hound" gets a new master. The only excuse deepening Violet would be how and why she's going about trying to incite unrest (which she definitely is). The duo can sniff out the lust though! What a skill.

It's still unfair to watch Clarice get batted around like a cat's mouse, since I think she and the readers are owed more. "Tenacious and optimistic, with a bit of a reckless streak" says 9.5, so she'd better live up to that instead of being stunlocked into passivity in her verbal spar with Violet.

Honestly the fact I care this much shows how much I'm empathizing with this chapter but I'm as excited as I am exasperated. Binge readers in the future are so lucky.

This chapter was so well executed, the cutting between the fight scene and the conversation perfect.

I loved the irony of the two of Shion and Frost fighting over whether the nobility or bourgeoise love their country and people more as the country lies in ruin and the people can't afford food.

i mean duh, she's right to have suspicion since she saw with her own eyes frost murder her father during monster stampede so warning clarice was the right move.
any decent person would do that "hey, so i saw your husband murder his father instead protecting us during cyber mongol attack"

we as reader have power of handsight from previous chapter that her black armor was double edge sword

From the previous chapters, it's likely that the Black Knight suit is cursed armour that corrupts the user in exchange for power.

4 white spikes on the shoulders.
1 spike used for the black chains attack
Frost gets a black "lightning strike" scar on the same shoulder afterwards.

From the flashback, it looks like the previous Black Knight, Gaius-sama had used ALL of the spikes and may have gone berserk as a result.
Frost had no choice but to kill them and take over the Black Knight armour.
It's ALSO highly likely that Frost was being raised by Gaius-sama to do exactly this, and why the Margrave's family adopts orphans. They have nothing to lose, so sacrificing themselves to keep the town safe is the only thing they can do.

sometime posted a reference sheet of Shion's mask on her fanbox and as someone here called it before, is just so she can pull her very own Super Sentai transformation to match's Frost, Black Knight.

Very interesting reveals but is clear that Violet's account of the Day of the Ashes events aren't complete and will be later contextualized when we know Frost's side of the story. I hope that Clarice's love for Frost is strong enough to not be influenced by a clearly biased third party but is a nice counterpart to Frost suddenly realising that she actually loves Clarice.

I'm not trusting this Violet woman. She's dissing our tall queen, and I'm having none of it.

I can see some drama incoming from Clarice perhaps growing to fear or suspect Frost due to Violet's story, while Frost starts to understand her own feelings toward Clarice are love. Perhaps the maids could help resolve things, themselves growing to see Frost as less of a menace thanks to Clarice?

Hopefully the drama wouldn't drag too long, and we'll get some lovey-dovey moments with the legendary height gap couple, maybe even a kiss (the height gap would make working that one out pretty interesting). Granted, it could also just not go in a drama direction, or with it resolving within next chapter, which would be fine, though some angst can be nice. I would still want to see them kissing, though, preferably during an aquarium date.

Thank you for the chapter, well in Shion's defense, she's unaware that the person she's fighting is actually Frost, remember both her and Violet were informed that the knight she's currently fighting is just a bodyguard assigned by the capital and Frost to chaperone Clarice. So its more Shion calling her out on putting the moves on a married woman she was hired to guard in the husband's stead without knowing that the one doing so is actually Clarice's waifu. I don't think Shion would have made the comment if Clarice was currently single or that she was actually fighting Frost herself.
This does raise an interesting question though if Frost's been hiding her actual gender even before highlandering her way into the position how was she able to meet her angst inducing flashback tall lady? Since she wasn't in disguise in that flashback and female knights in that kingdom are either frowned upon or are extraordinarily rare so its not like Clarice's knightussy could have met her at an academy or something as herself.
I still think the dragon will end up either being able to henshin or be someone's henshin.

Could be the lady in the flashbacks was Gaius and there's a whole tangled net covered in webs of misinformation that people got stuck in.
