Pretty sure the "other use" for the gun that she was referring to was suicide if your bitten, and she threw it away because she doesn't want anyone to give up prematurely.
Pretty sure it mostly said the high school's graduation ceremony and the graduates (our cast)i wonder if anyone tried to translate the board

Elaborating on what some other people have said in the comments previously, they didn't really think that the gun would actually have an effect on the zombies. Especially since none of them had training so they wouldnt be able to aim for the head consistently which would mess them up in vital moments of crisis where they need to stay level headed. They'd panic and miss alot more often, wasting valuable time that couldve been spent running or fighting with a melee weapon. Plus, it's already been established that the zombies are attracted to sound and light. The sound of a gun going off is way too loud for it not to make a horde of zombies gravitate to the area in numbers large enough to overwhelm them easily. It's alot to risk when you don't even know if shooting them actually works (which it probably wouldn't as they're already dead - severing or bashing the head with a shovel severs the brainstem and damages the brain, but shooting a zombie anywhere but the head will just inflict injuries on organs and tissues that they don't need to keep going.)i think i just saw one of the dumbest decisionspossible in a zombie apocalypse: throwing away a gun
cap.you can throw after you wasted all the bullets or after you think it's too heavy for a trip. This is just dumb thinking here.while it is loud,it's always a good fallback weapon since you don't have to get close.as for panicking, seriously?shoot when you're far away or as a last resort when they're super close.simple.they can also fiddle around with it before they use it to understand how to shoot it.Elaborating on what some other people have said in the comments previously, they didn't really think that the gun would actually have an effect on the zombies. Kurumi knows this. The real reason she would want to hide a gun (one she would've told them about if she actually thought it a suitable zombie weapon) would be to either kill people in self defence or herself when she can't see a way out. That's why miki throws it away, because anything she could've done with the gun would be extremely damaging rather than aiding in their survival
