The situations are vastly different. As far as I'm aware, Scyllazy are not holding either of the manga you've mentioned hostage. Unless I have missed any form of request to take over for either of those manga, they are simply just working at their own pace(since I'm pretty sure Scyllae is just one person).Say whatever you want about GDS, but Scyllazy are also having their issues. Picking up other series, that was slowly getting translated, while they're also "keeping hostage" other titles, like Uninvited Gal Nakamura-san (translated 6 chapters, published 44) or Aren't You Too Sweet Salt-God Sato-San? (translated 70, published 86). It's literally the same thing that GDS are doing.
Not that I care, because I'm not paying, so I'm having literally no rights to complain and I'm also big believer of "free market" in terms of who translate what, especially in cases like those 3 mangas, where TL group clearly is taking their sweet time to release new chapters, while source material is pilling up like crazy. But - let's not apply double standards.
Neither is GDS. It's not their property. If community is aware of their morally questionable actions, then just ignore them and do what you wanted to do with those mangas that they claim as "theirs" or force them to spill out all their beans by "sniping all their" titles. It's not like they have they own any rights to those stories. The situations are vastly different. As far as I'm aware, Scyllazy are not holding either of the manga you've mentioned hostage.
Well, if you were to ask me as someone who isn't anything more than something similar to a lurker (hell, I only actually made this account because I lost my .txt containing all the series I was looking out for), I personally think that GDS's actions are deplorable just from a general standpoint. However, I'm not someone who works for this forum, nor someone who works for the actual site itself. I'm just saying my opinions. Truthfully, I do genuinely wish that people would do more to prevent this kind of behavior from happening, because their form of making money/using manga series that they have no ownership over is an incredibly slippery slope that could very quickly turn bad if left unchecked(which, it honestly kind of has gone too far as is).Tl;dr - GDS do not own any of those titles. If it is well known that they're clearly violating rules set up by community, why are they being treated as part of it, by that same community?
I mean sure, but now another series that gds dropped cause someone else took over is soon to be abandoned by that group leaving no one translating. I'd rather not let that happen to this as well, but hey at least this has an official release so i can read that if its dropped completely.I feel like they honestly feel threatened by Scyllazy and are trying to push far enough ahead to draw away the audience that might rather wait for Scyllazy's chapters ("sure, you could just let them release stuff, or you could read ours which is now like 4 chapters ahead!") Which is hilarious bullshit after they just ghosted this series for like 4 months before Scyllazy started catching up.
I've said this before but, goddamn GDS, just go find another series that nobody's working on. There are plenty of abandoned series out there that people have been reading that have nobody. You don't need to get into a pissing contest with a group that does a good job working on something that you seemingly had no interest in. You could be working on thing unchallenged with an audience ready to go but instead you choose this path.
How is that any different than when GD is "translating" it?leaving no one translating.
