Say whatever you want about GDS, but Scyllazy are also having their issues. Picking up other series, that was slowly getting translated, while they're also "keeping hostage" other titles, like Uninvited Gal Nakamura-san (translated 6 chapters, published 44) or Aren't You Too Sweet Salt-God Sato-San? (translated 70, published 86). It's literally the same thing that GDS are doing.
Not that I care, because I'm not paying, so I'm having literally no rights to complain and I'm also big believer of "free market" in terms of who translate what, especially in cases like those 3 mangas, where TL group clearly is taking their sweet time to release new chapters, while source material is pilling up like crazy. But - let's not apply double standards.

The situations are vastly different. As far as I'm aware, Scyllazy are not holding either of the manga you've mentioned hostage. Unless I have missed any form of request to take over for either of those manga, they are simply just working at their own pace(since I'm pretty sure Scyllae is just one person).

It's much less about the fact that they're taking a long time with updates(which is something in of itself), and rather the fact that they are paywalling chapters/progress behind their patreon while also trying their best to hog up this manga's space on mangadex. It is incredibly hard for anybody to want to translate these series out of a genuine love for it when someone can very clearly just put something together with their much larger team and withhold it for months, then immediately mass-drop their folder to make their effort of that individual look small-scale.

Also, this isn't exactly a free market, as much as it is supposed to be closer to a community. Of course, this is an expensive community effort that one can justify monetizing for the sake of getting returns, but the form of monetization that GDS implores is incredibly malicious.

Neither is GDS. It's not their property. If community is aware of their morally questionable actions, then just ignore them and do what you wanted to do with those mangas that they claim as "theirs" or force them to spill out all their beans by "sniping all their" titles. It's not like they have they own any rights to those stories.

Idk, honestly, I'm new to this community, especially to all that drama surrounding sniping something from someone. I understand that it is in good taste to first ask original group that picked a title if they're still working on that project, but I'd assume that'd apply only to relatively small groups or one-man projects. As much as you said, they aren't small group and they're clearly greeding for money. So why are people treating GDS as part of their community, when plainly they violate rules made by that community?
I mean, the deeper I dig into this problem, the less I understand what is all ths fuss about. People are somehow following updates from GDS, people are (apparently, I'm taking your word on this) buying access to their patreon and noone is taking any actions to stop them other than throwing shit at them. Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending them, because I can't give enough fuck to whiteknighting some random dudes from Internet, but if community want to see done something with them, community must somehow "fight" against them - idk, by ignoring their uploads, by "sniping their" series or something. By doing something, and not just by yapping "fuck you" or throwing irony in comments section.

Tl;dr - GDS do not own any of those titles. If it is well known that they're clearly violating rules set up by community, why are they being treated as part of it, by that same community?

Well, if you were to ask me as someone who isn't anything more than something similar to a lurker (hell, I only actually made this account because I lost my .txt containing all the series I was looking out for), I personally think that GDS's actions are deplorable just from a general standpoint. However, I'm not someone who works for this forum, nor someone who works for the actual site itself. I'm just saying my opinions. Truthfully, I do genuinely wish that people would do more to prevent this kind of behavior from happening, because their form of making money/using manga series that they have no ownership over is an incredibly slippery slope that could very quickly turn bad if left unchecked(which, it honestly kind of has gone too far as is).

For the record, I myself don't actually care too much about sniping. I just think that sniping should be done if the sniped group is unresponsive/not on a great pace, the sniper's translations aren't low quality and simply made to force chapters out, or if the sniped group's translations are low quality. However, it is worth noting that one of the reasons above is exactly why Scyllazy is working to translate this series.

It would also be worth noting for me to say that this isn't an attempt at yelling at people to stop reading their scans or anything. I don't care what other people do. I just wish people would make more of an effort to condemn them for their blatantly scummy tactics.

Vol 3 only has 1 chapter left, so maybe tomorrow :wooow:.
As for my group, i don't work alone on that series, TL ( Scrubb ) work on a bunch of other series, and we have someone helping with cleaning/redraw, i pretty much don't just typesetting and hard redraw.
Sorry if it feel slow to people, i can typeset a chapter in a day if i cut on sleep but i have other things to do ( like pretty much everyone ).
As for GDS, they do what they want, in my opinion they have balls of steel to ask for money using someone else work while having 0 respect for it.
They change font randomly and nuke text and sfx ( well since they don't translate sfx, might as well just delete them, right :lul: ).
Here is some example.

I feel like they honestly feel threatened by Scyllazy and are trying to push far enough ahead to draw away the audience that might rather wait for Scyllazy's chapters ("sure, you could just let them release stuff, or you could read ours which is now like 4 chapters ahead!") Which is hilarious bullshit after they just ghosted this series for like 4 months before Scyllazy started catching up.

I've said this before but, goddamn GDS, just go find another series that nobody's working on. There are plenty of abandoned series out there that people have been reading that have nobody. You don't need to get into a pissing contest with a group that does a good job working on something that you seemingly had no interest in. You could be working on thing unchallenged with an audience ready to go but instead you choose this path.
I mean sure, but now another series that gds dropped cause someone else took over is soon to be abandoned by that group leaving no one translating. I'd rather not let that happen to this as well, but hey at least this has an official release so i can read that if its dropped completely.

Is it just me or this feels like the author is speed running it?
They preface an event, and just fast forward to it a few times already now.
