I get that it's a limitation of the art style, but she doesn't look significantly different when we see her first waking up vs when she apparently has all her makeup on. Mangaka so afraid of making their characters appear not cute that they don't actually draw them to represent what they want and just instead tell you that you're supposed to think this is their uncute design with no makeup and how unappealing it must be.

I don’t disagree that she does look the same without her makeup. However, the way I like to interpret it in this case is that she is already beautiful without makeup. It’s just that due to her trauma she doesn’t feel cute unless she has it on. In this case I think it’s just her past insecurities making her unable to acknowledge herself as cute with no makeup on.

But yeah, artists always make the girl look pretty even if they’re supposed to be plain looking. :pacman:

These female characters always asking for compliments or confirmation on their looks and when the guys reply "yeah you're cute/pretty/adorable" they then proceed to blush.

Like girls you asked for it! Stop acting like "omg no guy's ever told me this before... What do I do?! 😳"

I get you may not expect them to actually reply, but goddamn really???
