Bit of a cop out on the author’s part but perhaps an acceptable one. This way he does not exactly end the debate between Kazuhiro and Kaiji on human nature because no choice was really made so long as Kaiji forgot the price tag. Of course one might say that the forgetting proves Kaiji’s side.
