The fact that Kaiji sees them as gems that one could search the world for and barely find only goes to show that Kazuya is mostly right. Most people are as he describes and it is the rarest of occasions that you might find a gem. And you won’t know if you have found a gem until you go through some truly terrible life threatening shit, possibly more than once (sometimes one brush with danger changes people).

I look forward to the next series where our wise young master Kazuya will enlighten Kaiji with his wisdom further.

And did anyone notice that we didn't get a backstory for Mitsuyama? All we know is he helped Chang and Mario when they were at their lowest and that he has a bad liver, did we ever find out why he was in debt in the first place?
