Immortality is a curse in itself but I feel like giving up dying isn’t an equal payment since you also become immortal.
I mean, it might not necessarily mean that he can't die at all, but that his life is at the will of his contracted spirits. So as long as they are entertained or whatever, he can't die, even if he wants to. Likewise, if they are bored of him, he can't live, even if he wants to.

I mean, for some people not being able to die isnt "giving up" much if anything.

"Death" so his humanity. His connection to other living things. So our MC will end up being the new undead king?

I thought he gave entertainment, his eye, and his hand from the beginning and now it was death which is probably all of that together

I’m still reeling from that fact that millions, if not billions of lives could have been saved if he just fucked the elf and then died.
Well the elf's a guy iirc (at least according to the tl), so even if the elf has feelings for him, considering the dad's past, I assume the dad doesn't swing that way and wouldn't really have any interest in that kind of fulfillment before his death.

Since when the fuck does sacrificing "lack" for "gain" a good twist?

What next? Sacrificing "weakness" for "strength"?
Someone needs to tell the author and editor that writing a twist that no one has ever done before isn't the same as being clever.

Edit: changed my wordings because it actually sounds like a reasonable thing, but the thing I'm referring to is so incredibly stupid that simple sentences isn't able to describe it.

I'm getting FMA flashbacks, from the end, when Ed exchange his "Alchemy" to get back Al's soul and body.

Why sacrifice actual parts of my body for a bit of something, when I can give up a conceptual one and get so much more?
