lol, even tho he pointed out about realism in the 1st couple chapters, it goes on to ignore it later w/ the grinding -- Aka. Stamina, durability, maybe maintenance (blood, etc), and so on.

Feels brutal when I can see 28 chapters in Japanese and only 9 in English. Though, I'm too lazy to try and figure out how to translate it myself, LOL. Do more work for us for free, faster, Mr. Translator man (he says full of entitlement)!

Now I've reached the point where I just hope someone else takes this series over. It's been 4 months since a new chapter was posted.

This manga is OK, but it lacks a defining gimmick. I give it a very standard 7/10.

Like, normally you have a 'but' in the manga description, right?
"The MC is reincarnated in their favourite action-RPG gameworld... but it's as the villain."
"The MC is reincarnated in their favourite action-RPG gameworld... but he's stuck with a joke Class."
"The MC is reincarnated in their favourite action-RPG gameworld... but he needs to defeat the demonlord in less than a week."
"The MC is reincarnated in their favourite action-RPG gameworld... but his use of exploits crashes the economy and he becomes a fugitive from the law."

Anyway, this MC is reincarnated in their favourite action-RPG gameworld.
And... he goes around playing the game as intended.
The most noteworthy thing is he's bringing an alchemist girl with him and power-leveling her, and that nobody else treats this as a gameworld with known and catalogued exploits, like the MC does.

And also... The manga makes a big deal about how there are 1000+ Classes to choose from, but then the MC just picked the absolute bog standard Class "Hero". And it's not like Alchemist is a rare occupation in mangas either.
Way to ignore the most interesting part of your setting, dude.

Overall, it's not bad, It just seems... humdrum.

This certainly isn't the worst manga I've ever read, but it really feels like a flimsy excuse for the author to masturbate over their invented game mechanics and made-up strategies for said invented mechanics.

Like it was a book written by a mangaka who's quietly annoyed at themselves because they learned to draw instead of learning to code so they could actually make this painfully generic RPG.

so much time in so many chapters is devoted to the plot grinding to a halt so that the MC can exposition-vomit paragraphs of explanation and commentary on the job system or how in-game contest and competitions work, or on how game mechanics interact as if he's reading directly off of the author's binder full of notes that he'd been compiling for the last 6 years before he actually started the manga.

This manga is OK, but it lacks a defining gimmick. I give it a very standard 7/10.

There are a surprising number of really crappy isekai that don't have a "but" twist to differentiate them. They literally are just a blatant generic invocation of the gameworld isekai concept. Or the "but" they have is itself a standard one (reincarnated as a villain, born with a wonky/difficult class, is trying to avoid getting caught up in the main plot but keeps getting sucked in anyways, etc)

Gaming culture in general is way too hung up on minmaxing and optimizing nowadays. Every game is like this, where having a broad and very dynamic/diverse set of mechanics is just a stall until the most hardcore gamers figure out how to break the system in the most efficient way possible and then every other player reads a walkthrough or a reddit thread to copy those results so that they get the most effective play out of it.

Pokemon has over 1000 monsters in it (and over 400 or so I think if you eliminate pre-evolutionary forms that are obviously not meant to stand on equal footing with everything else) and yet its metagame is ruthlessly winnowed down until everyone uses the same 30-50 ones it seems. Diablo had skill trees with tons of options but if you played online and didn't follow the common builds and avoid the skills that people deemed worthless nobody would play with you. Most MMOs are built around optimal parties and strategies. If you pick a class that plays better solo people won't group with you because they don't want to adjust their standard tactics and expect that you should just want to solo since you have a solo class.

I grant that I say "nowadays" when it's been like this for 20+ years, but it does kind of feel like game devs try their best to figure out how to let people play however they want and then audiences go "nahh, screw that. I need to play in the one way that everyone important thinks is best." until all of that choice is stripped away.

I agree, this is quite mediocre. I think a lot of it is how often everything in the story stops so that we get page after page after page of prattling on about mechanics until the audience's eyes glaze over. It's like those panels in a story where some otaku talks about their topic of choice and the text is so much that it goes well past the boundaries of the speech bubble in line after line. Except those are supposed to be a joke and this is decidedly not.
