Or are they feral? What if all the monotsuki outside are dedicated to creating yuri moments through the suspension bridge effect? It would explain why they attack our protagonists.

I feel like the first draft of this story was just insane post-apocalyptic worldbuilding so it got rejected by the editor and the compromise was having a female character with boobs so humongous that ordinary human vertebrae would be unable to cope, hence making her an android

C: the cause and the effect were reversed. They lost the ability to reproduce BECAUSE they resorted to the gray bodies: the ones that stayed human kept living normally.
