Sometimes they just use the plot point of: MC is the one experiencing, therefore MC is shown.

Like some other people have said, that's probably just what the MC sees as he lives through this flashback. From what I remember of the novel, Kurokiri was described as some Schwarzenegger-like old dude, and even his sword was a broadsword until MC shapechanged it to a katana. As for your spoiler, sadly no.
