Uh, your country already did dumbass. Remember in ww2 where you were expanding your empire in the South East Asia countries and prosecuted all the natives, Pillaged the territory, and treated the prisoners of war like shit? Like South Korea with comfort women, where the imperial Japanese soldiers kidnapped and raped women all over the country.
Then again, I could be remembering it wrong and this could all be fake news made up by those western countries to try to disprove that Japan is the most good-hearted, Selfless country in the world that never does anything wrong, the author seems to think so!
And now their gonna pilla- I mean procure the special region for its valuable resources! This time with no rape because that’s an evil thing to do, and Japan never does evil! Since the special region is part of japan just because they said so, they are free to use it as they please! What’s that? There’s people already living there? Oh, their just citizens of our country, no consent needed! Anyone in the special region who opposes us is a terrorist like the Empire! How dare they incite insurrection in their native lands?!

Author knows nothing, if anything, China refuses to let another China exist.
Fun facts, Mexicas were the opresive empire in the region and when Spaniards came, every country in the region joined the spanish against them, defeating the Mexican empire on an extended siege, that kinda only worked cause smallpox alredy decimated the population.
And Mayans...
They kinda alredy werent around by the time the spaniards came to the region.
There were people who were culturally mayan, but the mayan kingdom collapased centuries ago and most cities were alredy abandoned.
In fact, most mayan ruins remain in very good condition cause they were alredy forgotten ruins by the time Spain claimed the region.
There were only small powers and city states remaining.
