Without the gate, Japan’s “invasion” will eventually come to an end with no means of resupplying. Meaning no more ammunition, fuel, human resource, food (I don’t recall them actually making any farms for example), and would destroy moral. All things considering, it is definitely a win condition for Zorzal. IF he can that is. The gates being the most obvious lynch pin in existence, you would definitely expect it to be well defended, even when attacking. Especially when you consider Japan’s end goal.

Well, the Gate isn't in Italica, it's in Alnus so the supplyline being cut off doesn't apply here

The only thing of real value is that it functions as the temporary Capital with the former king and current queen there. And would be a prestige and moral victory for Zorzal.

Japan would continue to fight and they have put in too much resources to pull out of Italica at that point and just rebuild it instead.

And Zorzal has lost a very good chunk of his armies and they being used as sacrificial pawns and distraction wouldn't gain him any massive favors, especially considering that they thought he would reinforce them.

I'm failing to see how capturing the fallen emperor or Italica will ensure Zorzal's victory.

Politically speaking, if he capture Pina (as successor) and emperor, he would be winner. From Japan's point of view, it's not Japan against Empire, it's Empire (Pina and emperor) with Japan's help against rebels (Zorzal). If Zorzal capture them. he became legit sole ruler of Empire, and Japan lose their purpose for war.

Goddamn, this might be the first time I've read an LN>Manga translation actually end. I sure hope so, having read it this far. It might not be the best series with the JSDF just constantly winning, but I would just love to finish this until the end.

These adaptations usually update at a glacial space, or stop completely at a certain point... especially if the manga was just a promotion for the LN.
