I actually do like this premise, but the story is still awkward. The author seems to understand the way to facilitate proper and more natural story progression, even showing it off (like the princess's realization), yet still adds unnecessary forced instances, which could be saved for arcs on their own (the forbidden forest)...

I think that manga authors are in some secret contest to find how little story they need to tell while continuing to be published. Spending two pages on a recap means two fewer pages adding to the story.

It will truly be a wonder if the recaps lengthen with each chapter, while the total pages per chapter remain roughly fixed. Eventually, a chapter will be purely a recap, and then the series will have to halt, because the next chapter will be too short to hold a longer recap.
