It seem to me the "daughter got involved" case could have been invented precisely for the sake of this manga. After all, the chapter did make a point of Runa becoming visibly more important (interesting), which would attract all sorts of types, some with aggressive and simple agendas, such as kidnapping, especially in a fictional story. Sure, it happens in real life as well, occasionally, but stuff like that are the bread and butter for fiction, even in countries that ought to be safe.
