It seem to me the "daughter got involved" case could have been invented precisely for the sake of this manga. After all, the chapter did make a point of Runa becoming visibly more important (interesting), which would attract all sorts of types, some with aggressive and simple agendas, such as kidnapping, especially in a fictional story. Sure, it happens in real life as well, occasionally, but stuff like that are the bread and butter for fiction, even in countries that ought to be safe.

I read it more as an anecdote about how innocent semi-bystanders can get involved when distraught people seek someone to vent their vengeance upon.
(Meaning for Runa that even people unaware that it was her shenanigans that cost them their jobs in her effort to save Japan, might still want to beat her up.)

And in comparison it would be such a minor thing that it might not be reported very much (except perhaps briefly in tabloids) back in the days when clickbait was less of a thing and memory wasn't longer than the next visit to the burnable trash heap with the newspaper pile.
