Given that the Kingdom and Empire have roughly equal military power, how is the Empire able to coerce the Kingdom into giving concessions?

On moral and practical grounds. The empire shares a long border with the demon territory, so it has been fighting against the demons. Chances are it used to be more powerful, although now it ought to be more experienced. In any case, they can claim the Elveniden kingdom has been able to enjoy peace because others did all the fighting and dying. If they don't contribute at all, and it helps the demons crush the empire and others, then Elveniden will be the next anyway, with far fewer possible allies left. But if they contribute now, maybe they don't need to see demons on their own soil at all. They would be quite reasonable arguments, even without coercion.

If i had not watched the anime in the past i would of dropped this as LHT did a good job at butchering things. I can look past the name of the kingdom as it was close enough but the "grammer" hurt as if it was a speedrun and/or drunk/high or sleep deprived while also not bothering to put forth effort to proof read
