...Well, this guild is fucking retarded. This huge monster that had already defeated a large subjugation squad and was highly sought after for materials and them killing it not only got those materials but saved the lives of countless soldiers/guild-members and dragging it back into the city led to them giving a massive bill to the people that defeated it because... the smell inconvenienced the people in the city? And there was something about monsters being attracted to the blood, but for all we know it was just scavengers and carrion that go after corpses because they're not that powerful.

So what are you going to do if you're working and the guild has missions like this and wants to send you on them? After seeing this, I would tell the guild to go fuck themselves if they wanted to me to subdue such beasts/monsters. What, so I can fight and put my life on the line and possibly die or get horrifically injured just so you can take the dead body, make a profit off of it and then give me a bill?

It's not like he dropped the giant monster's body on a fucking house or something. There was no reason to be billed like that. Makes you wonder how they get anyone willing to work for them when they pull shit like that.

That is highly fucking suspicious. Even if there was a bill for, some blood and some low level monsters, that should have had high enough pay to split with an entire RAID GROUP!

the monsters didn't even appear until they got back which means they are not only local but also in all reality, probably low danger with how close they were to the town.

Now the blood I could understand if it was cloth. But, it's stone there is no fucking way these people had this much trouble washing blood off of STONE.

Fuck a smell these are adventurers, they probably come back smelling like ass and rotten musk rat. Do they get fined for that too. If you're the one bleeding do you get a bill for bloodying the streets and smelling like iron.

I would have immediately taken back a fair share of the materials and left.

I don't like them owing so much after completing a difficult mission. No reward is one thing, but a debt? Was the author trying to be funny and making MC seem like Aqua in Konosuba causing a huge debt? It's not funny here though.

It's probably pretty simple. They overcharged the hell out of this because the people of the city were coming forward with so many complaints about this. The adventurers guild in just about any of these stories operates based on the trust of the people. A brand new adventurer inconvenienced hundreds of citizens and even lured monsters right to the city gates. This is fucking awful for the guild's reputation.

By hook or by crook, they put these idiots in debt so they could keep a tighter leash on them going forward since they're obviously troublemakers that need special attention.
