the power dynamic in these stories is so bizarre and precarious. the girls can do whatever they want, be sexually aggressive, cause problems, no one is allowed to notice, the men have to do what they want and take all blame. just like real life, except she's apparently attracted to him even though he's just playing by the rules.

on the one hand, author just takes for granted the insanely inflated status of women in public. on the other hand, very sympathetic role for the male gaze; in the artist's and reader's eyes the girls are just pieces of meat for our pleasure. yet because of the power dynamic it ends up as "impotent male gaze at mommy gf".
unless this power dynamic reverses at some point it's like 80% cringe, with the girls just extracting attention from the men and the men following the provided script exactly.
