Wow, Sensei really did see the big points of Chicago. I noticed:
  • The Chicago Theatre on State Street
  • The Hard Rock Cafe on West Ontario
  • Seeing Navy Pier from a skyscraper
  • The Bean (Anish Kapoor wants people to refer to it as Cloud Gate but nobody does because he’s a prick)
  • Crown Fountain in Millennium Park (a relatively large sculpture that regularly has a random face on its screen and sometimes shoots out water)
  • The Jay Pritzker Pavilion (great for outdoor concerts)

Mm, when he talks about being unable to shake the culinary habits of the culture you grew up in, I totally agree. I ironically do this to Japanese food– no matter how deep I get into it, I know it'll unlikely become truly authentic as I can't resist spinning it to my preferences, lol.
For the record... Steak with white rice is just truly good. It's delicious when the meat's juices soak into it (and even better when you throw kimchi into the mix to cut the fat).
