I don't see how her threat could hold much weight here, wouldn't he still have payment receipts to show that he was being either paid or employed by this publisher, and wouldn't he still have copies of manuscripts and rough drafts for all chapters of his work that he has done prior? Literally all he has to do if she were to fire him and replace him is to get a lawyer. It would be a literal cake walk to prove in court that he was employed by her company as the author of these books. The entire precedent would be a total legal nightmare for her and she would likely be the one getting fired instead. Copyright and plagiarism laws aren't so easily circumvented, this stuff is taken very seriously IRL.
