You grabbed the ball onii chan, I'm so wet right now.
That was a hearty kek, the author is really struggling to make up some good points for the dude.
Well when you have a guy that doesn't have many masculine traits. You gotta make him appealing somehow.

Edit: Also it wasn't grabbing the ball it was being aware of social cues. The thing our heroine lacks.

How does it look legaly in Japan though? They aren't blood related and i don't think they mentioned anywhere that his father married her mother or are they married? Still this doesn't look good, i wonder how it gonna be handled by author.
Upon quick google glance, legally speaking there are no state laws that prohibit that they can't. But I have no clue how society would view it, as in Japan (and many other Asian countries) there is a strong culture of shame.

Well, that's the whole issue - the author didn't manage to make the character even remotely appealing in some regard, so when plot like this happens it only makes for laughter.
The social clues stuff is just as retarded, it's the same as her ovulating over a dude that managed not to shit his pants.
You can make standard qualities the romantic appeal of your character, but not when you write a completely straight-laced and banal sorry like this.

Honestly, I don't see where the problem is with them having a relationship even tho they're step-siblings considering that they are teenagers that were complete strangers to each other before starting to live together, like, it sounds reasonable to me that they could catch feelings for each other in that situation.
Like, for the people that are calling this incest, imo it can only be called incest when at least one of those two things is true:
  • They're blood related siblings (even tho if there's an extreme situation like "they've been separated at birth and when they're older they find each other not knowing that and catch feelings for each other" it would still be fine as long as they don't have kids, but that's so extremely unlikely to happen it's almost useless to talk about);
  • They lived the whole first part of their life as normal brother and sister, so not like a situation like this manga where they started living like that when they already were teenagers.
Other than those I don't see anything else as being incest, I might be wrong, but it just makes sense to me like this

Hey man I don't disagree just pointing an observation that was presented in the story.

I too would like my MC's to be more masculine and attractive than being the stereotypical self inserts or boring af. But you gotta work with what you have lol.

You don't have to "work with what you have". As readers, we have the perfect option of commenting what is bad as bad and choose a better story to read

Unless I missed some detail, I think Ayase is not technically adopted, right?
I hear in some situations, even if the child accepts the new parent, the child can still opt not to be adopted (consequently having the family name changed in the registration). Asamura's father is technically just a legal guardian aside from her biological mother. I think Ayase opted for that and so technically they are not legally brothers and sisters yet (i.e. they can date each other)

She's even maintained her father's family name so she's presumably still in his registry.

Ah finally he realised his feelings, now time to wait 50 more chapters for a confession (If we're lucky)
