For a 12 episode anime to only cover 23 chapters... explains why the anime was filled up with awkward pauses, long shots of room interiors, and diary flashbacks. I think the anime did it fairly successfully by making sure to use interesting lighting (shoutout to golden hour!), and composing each shot like a painting or an unfunny Wes Anderson movie.

Insanely good development, just need them to start expressing more passionately like typical humans...

Although it’s big progress, why did it have all the warmth of two chatbots talking to each other? I get that they both have trauma but they should still have some warmth.
It’s because the author doesn’t know how to write natural and interesting dialogue. The entire manga is like this 💀

I'm torn.

On the one hand, this level of communication is almost unheard of in a romcom.

On the other, these 2 are so stilted as characters:
"I think I like you"
"Are you perhaps experiencing a phycological phenomenon?"
This is the author trying to be profound after writing a BDSM/gambling series and a triangle romcom.

He misses more than he hits.

Because, just like they have ever since the start of the manga, they are both trying as hard as they can to be considerate of each other.
They're both in conflict resolution mode, awkwardly trying to say things so they cannot be misunderstood without imposing on each other, despite there being no conflict. Because they're both afraid of causing a conflict.

I don't think he's trying to be profound. I think he's just trying to write how a scenario like this would realistically play out, when both parties are just cautiously trying to make things work, and avoid any unnecessary drama.

Noooo y'all split the two page spread :<. Could you put pages 13 and 14 together as one picture? Any way thanks for the scanlation too! Gimai seikatsu is such a great story

You have robbed us of this magnificent picture...

Legit, I think that anime did this moment better. Instead of Asamura stopping Ayase and her bringing him into her room. She goes into her room with out him. and He slowly knocks on the door. and a little bit later she knocks back.

IT IS LITERALLY THE CUTES THING EVER OMG I CANT. AAAHHHh

It came out this summer. it is stunning. Near perfect adaptation. Great sountrack, intetion camera direction and framing. made it one of my favorites.

"not as a sibling but as a man" well duh, you've been "siblings" for like a couple months at most, as young adults, there's no way you wouldn't be seeing each other more as a man and a woman than as siblings, maybe if you were siblings from like 8 years old it would be a valid distinction but here it's just like saying water is wet

They aren't related, it isn't incest and never will be

"What are you doing step-bro?" brainrot

They're still trying to deny their feelings somewhat

In most places in the world, half siblings relationship, even just though marriage, is still considered incest. Idk what mental gymnastics u r trying to do here, boy, but chill

they're not half-siblings either, just two random strangers whose parents remarried. this isn't considered incest anywhere in the world, cause by definition it simply isn't. the point of banning incest is the high rate of cripples resulting from incestuous relationships. since the mc and the fmc are not related, they've got two completely different gene pools, which would result in healthy children most of the time (they can still be physically and/or mentally crippled if the child is unlucky of course).
that said, the whole incest topic is completely irrelevant anyway since the manga will never go that far.

they could get shunned by society though since neighbors in japan apparently judge ppl quite harshly even if it's none of their business.

in almost every country in the world, siblings formed though marriage are legally called half-siblings.... what are you even talking about? Do you live in a cave?

Search again, it is considered incest yes, but most ppl doesnt care because no blood relationship, but even if it is only though marriage, they are legally considered half-siblings. idk what you guys are on to seriuslly...

EDIT: btw, if you acknowledge that they could get shunned by society, I guess you already realize that YES it is seen as siblin relationshipt even if it is a married couple only... and thats the whole point hahahah XD

You guys are making so much mental gymnastics to convince yourselves it is not "incest".... but thats exactly how they advertise themselves hahahaha.

Like who the F cares? Only virtue signalers that care sooo much about lables in fiction are THAT worried about it bruh.

They are considered half siblins because of a new marriage, and thats it. Sure, not blood related, but thats how it is mentioned in most countries, or in your country specifically "oh yeah they are not half siblings because though marriage there is another name" bruh pls XD...

Incest or not, who cares. Their mental restraining is what spices this story anyway, chill kids.
