why would him being a hybrid of a scientist and a extraterrestrial species be shocking instead of common sense? there's nothing stopping them from breeding or transplanting their brain into the extraterrestrial species body??? you think scientist would study them to figure out how the alt timeline humans bodies would work and reproduce it into there own body.
