@Glomoro I never said it was acceptable towards the author, I just found it, in my opinion, acceptable.
I don't care whether it's acceptable to the author or not, of course it's not. If you can support the author then it's a great thing to do, but whether the author (and editor) are fine with scanlation is something I couldn't care less about, I'm thankful to the scanlators who allowed me to read such rich content over the decades, it's something I could never have afforded.
Supporting authors if possible and endorsing scanlation isn't being an hyprocrite, it's just embrassing the most of both worlds. If there's no money that goes the authors/editors' way, there's no scanlation. I also firmly believe scanlation allowed many people to get interested in manga (and other such forms of litterature, including LN/WN/etc) which in itself brought many more customers. I don't believe there's much loss when the vast majority of the people reading online are people who wouldn't have read such content otherwise (whether because they weren't interested or because they couldn't afford it).
But that's another matter.
