Hatocchi is hilarious! I know nothing about Japanese indie rock, but I really like the characters and humor.

Imho it’s a bit… weird. I think there’s a „music and love don’t mesh well“ message in here somewhere I don’t quite understand. On the other hand, the whole „form an amateur band“ thing feels surprisingly realistic, and so do all the fights between best friends. Let’s see where the journey goes. Hard to tell at this stage.

The author originally released it as a webcomic on Twitter and Jump Rookie (the same platform that Red Cat Ramen and Kindergarten Wars ran on). Not only did Shueisha love it and want to start serializing it immediately, they even got an artist for the author since they were working full-time.

Most likely theory at the moment is that the manga mentions a bunch of real life rock songs - some of them even showing their lyrics. They may need to check with the music rights holders to ensure they can post their translated lyrics

Hatocchi is such a relatable main character. This manga is helping discover new songs so yeah

Really enjoy this manga a lot! This might be the most relatable school band club experience ever told in manga medium lol (coming from an ex-member of a school band myself!) Not just the characters but all the drama and ups and downs, it's like I'm relieving my school life again 🥲

Really great manga, though i wish it would be more popular with western audience. It won the NEXT manga awards and is fairly popular in Japan so high hopes it gets an anime adaptation one day plus this manga is really relatable and has an accurate depiction of high school and what it feels like to be in a club
