This was a breathe of fresh air on so many levels.
If it was any other cliche romance it would've ended with one of them being villianized because their love borders on obsession and will continue to compete/be cold to each, so the prefered hetero or gay ship will happen while the 3rd is completely left out and forgotten despite the previous close bonds, shipped off with another charcter introduced late, or cut off completely so their love could be happy. It will also have one member of the ship bordering on suicidal and self destructive because their love interest rejected them.
Instead in the end everyone decides to take a more emotional mature route and not treating everything like its the end of the world, decide to actually communicate with each other with the love rival actually being mature and development enough to give up on his infactuation for friendship and everyone being together, something you don't see that often in romances/drama like this. So kudos to this for doing things differently.
