It is always important to voice your affections in a clear way, once in a while, even if it isn't really your thing. Doing so will reduce any feelings of insecurity in your partner and will improve your relationship. A person can't really read minds and assume that they won't need a gentle reminder that they are loved by you is naive since love makes us all into a mess of emotions.
