I didn't notice it until you mentioned it but it is a weird line coming from a non-Japanese vampire that is hundreds of years old. Sometimes you can feel the mangaka behind the words more than the character and this is one of those cases.
You must not be from Europe. If you were familiar with vampire lore, you wouldn’t have said that. No offense!🙃

According to old vampire lore, the younger (not a kid, ofc), purer, and untouched a girl was, the better her blood was considered. That’s why, by their standards, even a 25-year-old would already be seen as old, since there was a high chance she had already been ‘tainted’ (in the 17-18.th century, this would have been very likely) So, actually the manga follows this legend closely.

That highly depends on what area you are in. Europe alone has about 100 variations on a blood sucking monster and some of them, like the slavic strigois that Carmilla (and by extension Dracula) was loosely based on were more closer to animals who had low intelligence. The idea of vampires preferring virgins also was an original creation of Carmilla as it reflected Victorian era european values and views and is anything but traditional vampire folk tales. The modern vampire is only around 100yo with even original Dracula snd Carmilla being very different to modern concepts of it in Europe.

I am familiar with the lore, I enjoy (lesbian) vampire fiction. Don't really know what I was thinking when I wrote that comment, the line makes sense from a Carmilla / 70s euro lesbian vampire sexploitation / Anne Rice vein vampire pervert. Maybe because Ruruna doesn't read like one of those vampires and it's the kind of gross line a perverted mangaka would think of too.

Teacher-san "writhing in agony" . . . . yeah, naah, not quite how I'd have read that . . .
It's obvious and expected, but calling a 25 year old vintage wine is foul.
eh, they're all teenagers, 15-16-17, so 25 is unimaginably old to them.

What's that you say? Ruruna is hundreds of years old? Strange how she's the least mature of the lot (even including Miyako-sensei, who has her own brand of issues) . . .

that
"This isn't mating or anything like that! Don't get any dubious ideas!"
feels like the most mask-off moment to date for her, yeah.
I imagine Wakana's head is chock full of conflicting ideas and feelings - she wants everyone to know how wonderful Ruruna is and to love her with their entire being the way she does . . . but she also kind of doesn't want to share.

This is the first time that's really manifested, and fairly weakly at that - I suspect we'll see more and more examples of that kind of thing over time. Lots of scope for drama and tragedy to develop - Wakana's growing obsession with keeping some part of Ruruna's love to herself, the other kin growing more and more jealous and mistrustful, and eventually everything explodes in a gory battle to the death over who gets to be Ruruna's lover . . .

Except I'm pretty sure no one else is interested in Ruruna that way (though we'll have to see how Miyako-sensei progresses, I suspect she'll still end up on the "wow, I have friends!" side of things), so Wakana's biggest romantic challenge is going to be the fact Ruruna is about as oblivious as a wooden post . . .

Naah, I think this is more a nod to how immature and inexperienced Ruruna is, despite her actual physical age - she's probably the least mature of the lot of them (though with Wakana it's a bit hard to tell, since everything is buried under the crazy passionate love for Ruruna).
