Teacher-san "writhing in agony" . . . . yeah, naah, not
quite how I'd have read that . . .
It's obvious and expected, but calling a 25 year old vintage wine is foul.
eh, they're all teenagers, 15-16-17, so 25 is unimaginably old to them.
What's that you say? Ruruna is hundreds of years old? Strange how she's the least mature of the lot (even including Miyako-sensei, who has her own brand of issues) . . .
that
"This isn't mating or anything like that! Don't get any dubious ideas!"
feels like the most mask-off moment to date for her, yeah.
I imagine Wakana's head is chock full of conflicting ideas and feelings - she wants everyone to know how wonderful Ruruna is and to love her with their entire being the way she does . . . but she also kind of doesn't want to share.
This is the first time that's really manifested, and fairly weakly at that - I suspect we'll see more and more examples of that kind of thing over time. Lots of scope for drama and tragedy to develop - Wakana's growing obsession with keeping some part of Ruruna's love to herself, the other kin growing more and more jealous and mistrustful, and eventually everything explodes in a gory battle to the death over who gets to be Ruruna's lover . . .
Except I'm pretty sure no one else is interested in Ruruna that way (though we'll have to see how Miyako-sensei progresses, I suspect she'll still end up on the "wow, I have
friends!" side of things), so Wakana's biggest romantic challenge is going to be the fact Ruruna is about as oblivious as a wooden post . . .
