I didn't notice it until you mentioned it but it is a weird line coming from a non-Japanese vampire that is hundreds of years old. Sometimes you can feel the mangaka behind the words more than the character and this is one of those cases.
You must not be from Europe. If you were familiar with vampire lore, you wouldn’t have said that. No offense!🙃

According to old vampire lore, the younger (not a kid, ofc), purer, and untouched a girl was, the better her blood was considered. That’s why, by their standards, even a 25-year-old would already be seen as old, since there was a high chance she had already been ‘tainted’ (in the 17-18.th century, this would have been very likely) So, actually the manga follows this legend closely.

That highly depends on what area you are in. Europe alone has about 100 variations on a blood sucking monster and some of them, like the slavic strigois that Carmilla (and by extension Dracula) was loosely based on were more closer to animals who had low intelligence. The idea of vampires preferring virgins also was an original creation of Carmilla as it reflected Victorian era european values and views and is anything but traditional vampire folk tales. The modern vampire is only around 100yo with even original Dracula snd Carmilla being very different to modern concepts of it in Europe.

I am familiar with the lore, I enjoy (lesbian) vampire fiction. Don't really know what I was thinking when I wrote that comment, the line makes sense from a Carmilla / 70s euro lesbian vampire sexploitation / Anne Rice vein vampire pervert. Maybe because Ruruna doesn't read like one of those vampires and it's the kind of gross line a perverted mangaka would say too.
