@Logic If you have to ask what Tolkien did for the fantasy genre i would suggest you to read his work since you probably never did without him you wouldn't get all those japanese titty slut elf girls

@NoForcee Let's see... Underdog story? Been there. Good magicians and evil magicians? Seen that. Heroes journey? Old as time. Detailed backstory? That is what mythos is about. Secret societies and magic among common people? Oh, please.
Also following your logic, only single book of each genre has the right to exist. The rest of the world is shiiiiiiit. You like this word, right?

@Trevasta - I'm sure she'll recount her story to her new party at some point - i'm actually in favor of this approach, since we're seeing her start on the road of recovering from her trauma.

@nachtness - After GS, any 'tism would seem like a pale copy. XD

And for everyone hating on boobs in this thread - shoo, shoo, I wish to appreciate my lovelies without your idiotic, placing-Rowling-on-the-same-level-as-Tolkien, anti-fanservice puritanism.

@NoForcee out of curiousity, what bring you to this btw? we have 1 main story , 2 other sidestory and if you think this is no less than common isekai trash, why coming here? after all the series shown so far, if you think this is that bad, why going so far to visit another one of its spinoff? an urge to trash talk?

Why is it that Japan always needs to add Samurai in places that don't fit. Like this is clearly a more medieval European styled world in both it's architecture and character design. Why is there Japan suddenly plastered on to this. I get that this a Japanese product but at least have some consistency in both culture and art style you wish to depict. Zelda Breath of the Wild did a good job with Japan in a Medieval fantasy, Same with Dungeon Meshi every major character is a traveller venturing in foreign ancient ruins. Saikyou Juzoku Tensei: Cheat Majutsushi no Slow Life hell this did a better job in art style where it's more of a combined mesh between Tribal, European clothing, and architecture.

@Feeder Ever heard of Wizardry? The series of games that were first made in USA, were quite popular and influential in Japan, so popular in fact, that after the original team stopped making new games, the Japanese started doing it. And these games had both samurai and ninja classes in them since the very beginning when made by Americans. Even Dungeon Meshi seems at least somewhat influenced by these games, like its initial premise with some king promising a reward for slaying a mad sorcerer that created a big and dangerous dungeon, groups of adventurers braving it for the promise of fat loot and how it also has a samurai and ninjas in it.

And since this GS spin-off is also going to be about a party of adventurers braving a giant and dangerous dungeon, a samurai isn't really out of place. Not for me, at least.

@NoForcee You opened a chapter of a series you know you dont like because you wanted to talk bad about it, people treats you like an asshole and you say "you sound butthurt for me "insulting" your fav series seek help" like if you didnt said anything that can be ofensive, are you a special kid or something? you are the one that needs help, actively looking for things that you dont like is a weird behavior and you should correct it ._.

@Feeder Well i cant say i don't see your point, mangakas really like to put samurai in many types of context that doesn't really make much sense, personally, i don't mind it much of the cases. But as i don't want to enter a lengthy discussion of this let me say just about this case in particular, as the author envisioned his work in D&D fiction he putting a samurai isn't so out of place in reality, because in D&D there already the class samurai, i don't know much details in the story but i assure there are years already that countries and classes based in Asian culture exist, there are shinobi and even archetype mages to the Asian design.

To be entirely honest, I'm not really feeling this spin-off.

Whereas I am a huge fan of Goblin Slayer, this first chapter of GS Gaiden 2 does not ooze the personality that GS has.
Goblin Slayer, in my opinion, made its mark by taking the entire fantasy/dungeon & dragons trope and, instead of focusing on glorious heroes, world-changing wars and god-kings, points us directly to the filth and muck of the failures, the low-class and the weirdos of adventurer society.
Goblin Slayer is all about one guy that is so utterly fixated on wrecking goblin shit that every other Isekai or fantasy that deals with goblins almost always gets a GS reference mentioned in the comments.
And it works, not only do the characters in GS acknowledge how important he and the work he does is, we as the readers are convinced of it too.

But that's not what's going on with the first chapter of this spin-off. Quite the contrary.
We are now confronted with a setting that's so run-of-the-mill, it almost makes you wonder if this is even from the same writer.
There isn't even a hint of the foolish and absurd drive Goblin Slayer portrayed that made us wonder what was possibly going to happen next.
Instead we get a back to basics adventure party that's *literally* looking for the perfect team build to go on a dungeon crawl you've seen dozens of times before.

So no, I'm really not feeling this spin-off. But hey, it's just the first chapter. I might be totally wrong. Just wanted to give my 2 cents.
