"a man like him eats sweets" Man it'd be nice if things moved forward to the point in culture to not so repressed to where ppl are surprised about that, unless it's literally a genetic thing like "Cilantro tastes like soap to certain taste buds" XD (then again i grew up in the south where it's pretty common for like junk food , sweets aside


Half expected them to get approached by a store employee or some convenient person who works as a magazine editor or so taking pics of them to self promo or so XD

Sadly that sort of progress moves the slowest. Especially in Japan given how socially conservative it is and how hard it adheres to tradition/inherited social values.

I mean there is a whole "unnecessarily gendered "subreddit/meme but i wouldn't' be surprised if they suddenly hired a bunch of celebs and stuff like "DESSERTS. FOR. MEN" or encouraging ppl to eat 'traditional' JP ones like 'matcha' or so lol. b/c if anything, i like green tea but outside of frappes, matcha powder is meh to me/the 'bitterness' might appeal to more male palettes , but imagine not being able to eat ice cream b/c you hit puberty as a male. Or maybe b/c it might also associate with the 'fat otaku' stereotype as well (tho you'd have to go outta your way to binge eat unless you have a metabolism that easily gains weight)

I like the main guy from Solitary Gourmet, he'd be great cast in a live action in this but he's rarely seen eating desserts there too

There is also that "Ojisan likes cute things" manga too
